Cutbush Shoulder Clinic
To develop the key design principles for the Brisbane based Kenneth Cutbush shoulder clinic, we began with a series of in-depth interviews with the clinic’s specialist Orthopaedic surgeon and key management. These discussions revealed critical insights into the challenges they faced in their current setup, including inefficiencies in patient flow and limited working space for support staff, along with less-than-ideal acoustics. By identifying opportunities for improvement, we created a design tailored to their specific needs.
The planning of their new space facilitated logical patient flow, providing administration and clinical staff with a functional design. To achieve this, we devised a layout that prioritised seamless transitions with soft curves between different stages of the patient journey – from reception to consultation, pre-surgery administration, post-surgery rehabilitation, including in-house physiotherapy.
To supplement the clinic in-person patient consultations, Dr Cutbush has a passion for multi-media communication, and uses this method to explain operations and ways to achieve better outcomes with specific aftercare. To support his advanced approach, we designed a custom ‘set’ that included studio lighting, video production acoustics and equipment storage which enabled on-site video production.
The result is a clinic that embodies increased efficiency, fosters renewed staff satisfaction, and ensures patients feel cared for and supported. It serves as a testament to the power of thoughtful design, creating a space that uplifts and transforms the landscape of specialised healthcare.
